海は、目に見えない無数の命のバランスで成り立っています。
その中で、サメは頂点捕食者として、海洋生態系の健全性を保つ要となる存在です。
弱った魚を淘汰し、獲物の数を調整し、
ときには漁業資源の安定にも貢献し、
海の中の“静かな秩序”を支えているのが、サメ。
けれど今、そんなサメが静かに姿を消しつつあります。
過去50年で、その個体数は70%以上も減少。
シャークフィニング（ヒレだけを奪い、残りを海に捨てる行為）は、
人間の欲望が生態系をいかに破壊するかを物語っています。
年間に人がサメに命を奪われるのは平均してわずか4人。
対して、人が殺すサメは年間数千万匹にものぼります。
毎時1万匹以上のサメが人間の手で失われているという試算もあるほどです。
私たちVIRI-DARI DESERTAが、ブランドの象徴として
「サメ🦈」を選んだのは、ただの強さやスピードの象徴ではありません。
土壌を守るためにオーガニックコットンを選ぶように、
海を守るために、サメという存在の意味に目を向けるべきだと感じたからです。
サメは、“止まると死ぬ”生き物。
だからこそ、前に進むしかない。
それは、私たちのブランドの姿勢とも重なります。
気候危機に直面する今、立ち止まってはいられない。
行動と選択の積み重ねでしか、未来はつくれないのです。

Why a shark?
The ocean is sustained by a delicate, invisible balance of life.
At the top of this web stands the shark — not merely a predator, but a quiet custodian of marine health.
Sharks cull the weak, regulate fish populations,
and help maintain equilibrium beneath the waves.
They even contribute to the stability of fisheries and coastal economies.
And yet, they are vanishing.
In the past 50 years, global shark populations have declined by over 70%.
Driven by demand for fins and oils, unsustainable fishing practices — like shark finning, where the fins are cut and the rest discarded — continue to devastate their numbers.
Each year, sharks kill an average of just four humans.
In contrast, tens of millions of sharks are killed by humans annually.
That’s more than 10,000 sharks every hour.
We chose the shark as the symbol of VIRI-DARI DESERTA
not because it’s fierce or fast —
but because it represents something deeper.
Like choosing organic cotton to protect soil and farmers,
we spotlight the shark to remind us:
the ocean, too, needs guardians.
Sharks cannot stop swimming —
if they do, they die.
Their only way is forward.
And in that, we see ourselves.
As a brand, we believe in forward motion.
